A Step-by Step Guide of what to expect

Our aim at Jamandi is to ensure your happiness and comfort from the minute you step off the plane in South Africa until you are safely on your way back home. Of course the process starts when you first make contact with us and here is a summary of what to expect:

After you have decided that you would be interested in coming to South Africa for a medical procedure we request that you complete an enquiry form which will allow Jamandi to respond with detailed information for you to consider. We will recommend a surgeon best suited for the procedure and send you the surgeon's CV. We will also give you information on how long you can expect to spend in hospital, the expected recuperation period and leisure options available to you during your stay in South Africa. At this time we will also give you an estimate of what the procedure will cost.

Should you be satisfied and wish to proceed we will request further medical information from you, including digital photos whereupon we will arrange a teleconference between you and your chosen surgeon. This is your opportunity to ask as many questions as you can think of and make sure you are totally comfortable with the procedure and the surgeon. You and the surgeon will discuss your expectations of the surgery and should agree on a realistic outcome. All the risks of the procedure will be explained and discussed with you.

After the surgeon has answered all of your questions and if both yourself and the surgeon are satisfied and happy to proceed, we will ask you to complete a booking form and you will be able to book your flights. We will now invoice you for a non-refundable deposit and make provisional bookings for your medical appointments and your surgery.

Three weeks before your arrival you will be asked to sign a procedure consent form and we will confirm your bookings. At this time we will require you to transfer the balance amount to Jamandi.

We will send you a detailed itinerary with details of your medical appointments as well as any leisure options you have selected as well as a photo of the Jamandi team member who will meet you at the airport and their mobile phone number.

On your arrival in South Africa you will be met at the airport and driven to our guest house in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to relax after your flight.

You will meet with your surgeon for a pre-operative consultation. This is an opportunity for you to have any further questions you may have answered and is a final opportunity for both yourself and your surgeon to confirm that your surgery should proceed. Should your surgeon find medical reasons not to proceed, or if you decide not to proceed, you will be refunded the surgical costs.

Jamandi will take care of pre-admission with the hospital so that you have a minimum of paperwork to worry about. On the morning of your surgery we will take you to the hospital and see to your admission as well as your final pre-surgery consultation with the surgeon and anaesthesiologist. Ask them any more questions you may have before surgery.

On your discharge from hospital, Jamandi will make sure that you receive the best possible after-care to ensure the best outcome for your selected procedure. You can now relax and recuperate in our comfortable guesthouse. Jamandi will accompany you to your post operative consultations as well as any complementary treatments.

Depending on how you feel, a wide range of leisure and recreation options will be available to you, close to “home”, or further afield should you have chosen to explore our beautiful country more extensively.

At the end of your stay a Jamandi team member will take you to the airport and stay by your side until you are safely checked in and ready to clear security. We’re going to miss you. We’ll be checking on you when you get back home. Please don’t be a stranger. Let us know how you’re doing and feel free to ask any questions or give us your comments.
